This year the world championships of the world kickboxing and karate union (WKU) took place in athens. From 36 nations 2100 athletes competed in the kickboxing disciplines pointfighting, light contact and forms as well as karate, among them four athletes from the ebern martial arts school rogner.
Petra barth from dorfleins started in the light contact and kick-light competitions. She had invested a lot of time in preparation and never missed a tournament. Last year she was world champion.
Barth started the preliminaries in the kick-light a bit nervous and tense. In the final, her fighting spirit showed – she won against her opponent and became world champion again. But there was not much time to recover, in the second discipline, light contact in the veterans, she showed herself strong in the preliminaries. In the final it was not quite enough – here she won the second place.
According to petra barth and her trainer harald rogner, this was the last world championship for the 56-year-old. And to end one’s career with such a success is more than a good conclusion.
