Senior Transportation Planner, AC Transit
John Urgo is a Senior Transportation Planner with AC Transit, where he has worked both as a service planner and in long-range planning. John led the planning and implementation of AC Transit’s on-demand microtransit service, AC Transit Flex. He is currently the project manager for the Dumbarton Express Corridor Improvement Project, is managing the rollout of a mobile fare payment pilot, and recently published design guidelines for managing bus and bicycle interactions on multimodal transit corridors.
Prior to joining AC Transit, John worked for the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, and interned for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Center for Law, Energy and the Environment at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
John holds a Master of City Planning and a Master of Science in Transportation Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in Environmental Analysis from Pomona College. He lives in Oakland with his wife Mariana.
