Lutz Eckstein is Director and Chair of the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) at Aachen University and Chairman of the Advisory Board of fka, which is the parent company of fka Silicon Valley.
He is also Chairman of the Scientific Society of Automotive and Engine technology, which comprises 33 Professors in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Moreover, Lutz Eckstein is directly involved in the strategic discussions on Automated Driving as well as Electric Mobility with the German Government.
Memberships include among others SAE and VDI (German Society of Engineers)
Before getting appointed as full professor by Aachen University in 2010, Lutz Eckstein was general manager HMI and Human Factors at BMW, being responsible for the HMI and graphics of all production vehicles of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce.
From 1995 to 2005 he worked for Daimler, 4 years in vehicle research, then in Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car Development. With his team he was responsible for the evaluation and internal certification of chassis control systems and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
